By default, the planning items are displayed in the month calendar as well as in the planner page by showing the start time and end time (unless the item is planned for the whole day), the project code and the project element code.
In the planning display settings page (Calendar/Planning > Settings > Planning display) the default can be overruled with separate settings for the month calendar and the planner page.

When a number is entered for a field it determines if the field will be shown and it also determines the order in which the field is shown. The reason why large number are used in the example above is that extra fields can be added this way without renumbering the fields already selected.
The planning display setting above will result in the following planning items:

We have separate colors for general calendar items, planning items and appointment items in the month calendar and in the planner page. For planning items, we can overrule the default color. We can use different colors for different projects and we can also use different colors for different project elements.
New colors can be created in the project color page (Calendar/Planning > Admin extra > Project color).

Clicking on the square next to the background color field and the text color field opens the color picker popup where a color can be selected.
Both in the project admin page (Calendar/Planning > Administration > Projects) and in the project element admin page (Calendar/Planning > Administration > Project elements) a color can be selected. A project element color overrules the project color.
In the example shown below we have given the INTERNAL project an alternative color (Yellow). This means all project elements of the INTERNAL project will be displayed in this color. We also gave the TESTING project elements of both FIELDING_WATCH and SCIO_SITE a red color.

Project and project element color can be set in standard projects also. This makes it easy to implement an alternative color on a project element base like the red testing planning items used in the example. Read the “standard projects and copying projects” documentation on the use of standards projects.
In the bottom part of the month calendar and of the planner page, a legend is displayed on how different display methods are used to distinguish between the different ways an item is planned.
whole working days
When no start time and no end time is entered in planning a calendar item and the start date and the end date are the same, then the item is displayed with the border visible on all sides
partial working days
When a start time and end time is entered and the start date is the same as the end date then the item is displayed with no borders at all.
multiple whole days
When no start time and end time is entered and the start date is different from the end date only the top and bottom borders are shown.
multiple working days with start- and end time
When start time and end time are entered and the start date is different from the end date the top and bottom borders are shown and on the first and last day of this item the icon is shown.
If in the system settings page (Calendar/Planning > Settings > System settings) the “onmouseover in calendar” is checked moving the mouse over a planning item will display more information about this item.

General calendar items do not have their own display settings page.
The color of the items also cannot be influenced.
General calendar items follow the same logic as planning items and appointment items in displaying the four period types:
Appointment items have their own display setting page (Calendar/Planning > Settings > Appointment display) just like the planning items. In this settings page (Calendar/Planning > Settings > Appointment display) the default display method can be overruled with separate settings for the month calendar and the planner page.

When a number is entered for a field it determines if the field will be shown and it also determines the position in which the field is shown. The reason large numbers are used in the example above is so that extra fields can be added this way without renumbering the fields already selected.
