Calendar & planning structure

In the Calendar & planning module, three different types of calendar items are used:

  • General calendar items
  • Planning items
  • Appointment items

General calendar items

General calendar items are items which an employee has entered in his own calendar or the calendar of one of the other employees and which are not directly related to a project, project element, customer or contact person. In the month calendar and planner the text entered in the "subject" field will be displayed with these items. The general calendar items are unstructured items as opposed to planning and appointment items.

Planning items

Planning items are calendar items which are directly related to a project and project element. Planning items are entered in the agenda by either an employee who has been assigned sufficient planning rights (planner) or by the employee themselves.

The relationship between the different objects for a planning item in the Calendar & planning module can be described in the following way:

  1. Projects that are done for a customer are divided into one or more project elements.
  2. These project elements are assigned to employees in what we call a resource.
  3. An employee can only be planned on a project element if a resource exists for that combination.
  4. Employees are, for authorization purposes, part of a group.

The diagram below describes the structure of the Calendar & planning module graphically.

Appointment

An appointment item is an appointment between an employee and a customer or contact person of a customer.

  1. Customers can have contact persons
  2. Employees can have an appointment either with a customer or with a contact person.
  3. Employees are, for authorization purposes, part of a group.
